Have you ever thought of a world with no colors? With the festive celebration of Holi this week, imagine how would it be if there were no colors or just a single color to paint the town? Wishing anyone ‘Happy Holi’ would be dull if we had only one color to smear on each other! The reds, yellows, greens and blues not only charge our moods but also our lives. Their vibrance can lighten up the darkest alleys of anyone’s personality too.
Holi is that festival that brings everyone together…For some, it is simply a day to smear colors on each other while for some it is all about spreading love – a day when colors speak and share warmth in hearts…
So, how do we relate to these vibrant colors that is a true reflection of our personality? Do these colors really project myriad attributes of one’s personality?
Red is the ultimate symbol of love. It brings affirmation to heart strings. No wonder, a hint of gulal can splash energy, love and power in equal measure. One of the primary colors, red color has association to many positive feelings – love, passion, birth, power, energy, vitality, assertion while it also symbolizes many negative attributes of one’s personality - anger, hatred, death, etc. Traffic management also uses red color as a stop sign but mostly, red is used to caution or halt the unprecedented. In any festival of Indian origin, gulal is splashed in the air or on forehead to only kickstart festivities, a new goal or project, a new beginning or new ties. A red color personality type also states extroverted nature, optimism, courageous, and simply confident. It shows strength and survival. It also marks the beginning of cell and birth of a child. Personally, red is my favorite Holi color that radiates a great deal of energy and hope.
Yellow is the primary color of sunny mornings. It symbolizes sheer happiness and great vibes. If you look at the environment, yellow is synonymous to the Sun, light, fire, and such universal bodies that emit this color. It also marks energy, warmth and evolution of life. With recent social media advancements, yellow also brings out the emojis, smileys and the emoticons that are used to express on digital platforms. Studies show that yellow is the color of sunshine, hope and happiness. It activates muscle and mind power by stimulating the organ systems in our body. Sunflower yellow also talks about energy, freshness, and joy. While turmeric yellow sanitises and cleanses your system, banana yellow is rich in nutrients and fulfils your health quotient from childhood. Yellow gemstones are believed to boost confidence, concentration and decision-making abilities. Again, yellow is the color of Gold, the most popular ornamental metal used across the globe. For me, yellow is my go-color and brings happy faces and bright perspectives in our personality.
Green has many facets and opens varied perspectives for living kinds. Green symbolizes growth, renewed energies, life, vitality, nature, abundance, good luck and health as well. It is also symbolically connected to prosperity and money…do not forget the green dollars! Since it is the color of nature, it brings tranquility and serenity to mind and body. Green color personalities reflect cool, calm and controlled temperament. As per Yogic science, green represents the fourth chakra – Heart. It is located in the chest region and connects all other sacred chakras of the body. For me, the color green gives me freshness and serene vibes. It connects me to nature’s beauty and naturally heals and calms the unrest in your mind. Again, by the color palette, green evolves out of a mixture and blend of yellow and blue – the openness of blue and energy of yellow together and hence, it brings more power to color green. Green also signifies fertility, growth, birth and life. In many countries, green is the color of luck and abundance. It is an emotionally positive color and restores balance. Variations are seen in color green too. Aqua, olive, lime, jade, emerald, grass greens are all appreciated by the artist communities across the world.
Blue is the third primary color in the color system and represents the vastness of skies and oceans. More than 70% of our mother Earth is filled with these blue oceans. It also symbolizes water – an essential need of all living kinds and takes on all virtues of nature. Serenity, stability, wisdom, openness, calmness, strength are the virtues of Blue personality. It has spiritual bent, universal energy, angel light and mindful realization. Many psychologists and color experts say that Blue represents open and honest communication. It helps and encourages to explore possibilities. For me, Blue is all about intuition, vastness, imagination, heaven, power, depth, inspiration and energy. It is the color that has been taken by many worldwide brands – Social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Linkedin, Zoom or for that matter, the IT giants Intel, Microsoft, Dell, have adopted Blue in their branding strategies. It loudly states professionalism and appeals both men and women around the globe.
